Collaboration with helpful parties.

From the moment the idea arose to tackle the issue originating from Erasmus MC, it has been striking how helpful various parties have been. It started with a group of students who were all willing to convert their spare time into a contribution to the answer to the problem. Over time, the team became more concrete and there was the start of a student team, TeamVERO.

Operating under the name TeamVERO, almost every meeting was closed with new issues from a part that had been clarified a bit further. These new issues had to be answered time and time again, which brought new issues to the surface. In this way, step by step progress was made in solving the original problem.

Curious about the underlying knowledge, but also critical enough to realize that the experience of specialists was needed to be able to make certain assumptions, contact was made with specialists in the field. These contacts were obtained through and were each very enthusiastic and driven to share the knowledge and experience they have gained with us. In this way our process got a good boost, because in this way knowledge was obtained quickly, but especially through the energy that was transferred. The specialists who contributed thought it was a good initiative, so that the enthusiasm they carried with them could be accepted by the team again.

The collaboration with specialists was one of the highlights where the helpfulness became clear, in addition, various parties were also very cooperative with regard to the supply of material and related information. This was yet another example of how to express appreciation and enthusiasm towards a multidisciplinary team, consisting of students, who work on a social issue in their spare time.

It is nice to realize that the point has been reached where people are happy to help each other, without having to immediately replace them. In this way we can only take each other to a higher level. All in all, the conclusion can be drawn that many hands make light work and that the saying is indeed correct.
